Cooper University Health Care has earned Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Accreditation through the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). Cooper’s program was recognized for its commitment to delivering high-quality, multidisciplinary care for bariatric surgery patients.

The three-year accreditation, awarded to Cooper University Hospital, acknowledges the program’s excellence in patient safety, quality improvement, and outcomes in metabolic and bariatric surgery for both adults and adolescents. Read more.

(WOODSTOWN, NJ) During the Mid-Atlantic Severe Situation Exercise (MASSE), hosted by Cooper University Health Care in partnership with the Salem County Sheriff’s Office May 4-8, a notable moment for an Army Reserve colonel highlighted the enduring commitment of military medical leadership.

Mechanical ventilation is a cornerstone of critical care—but how clinicians are trained to use it can vary widely from one institution to another. Cooper Critical Care has sought to address this need over the past decade through a longitudinal mechanical ventilation curriculum taught by Emily Damuth, MD, and Jason Bartock, MD.  The opportunity to extend education excellence is the reason Cooper University Health Care is partnering with Cleveland Clinic to bring a groundbreaking educational program to South Jersey. Cooper University Health Care’s Innovation Center has announced a license agreement with Upstream Access, Inc., a Cooper-founded, physician-led medical device startup developing a novel multi-directional vascular access system designed to improve endovascular procedures for patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and other vascular conditions.

The technology was invented at Cooper by Katherine McMackin, MD, MS, a vascular surgeon and director of vascular surgery research at Cooper University Health Care and assistant professor of surgery at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, and Jeffrey P. Read more.

Cooper University Health Care’s Center for Critical Care Services, in collaboration with the Cooper Transfer Center, Cooper EMS, and Cooper’s Level 1 Trauma Program, has launched a Mobile Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Transport Program — offering patients with life-threatening heart or lung failure access to advanced life support before they even arrive at the hospital.

The program enables a specialized multidisciplinary team to travel to referring hospitals, initiate ECMO at the bedside, stabilize critically ill patients, and safely transport them back to Cooper for ongoing management. Read more.

Cape May Court House, NJ / Galloway, NJ — Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional and Stockton University today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing a formal academic-clinical collaboration designed to expand educational opportunities and help meet the growing demand for a highly skilled nursing workforce in southern New Jersey.
